My last piece just talked about advice, so it’s kinda ironic that it seems like I’m doling out more advice. But you shouldn’t listen to anything I say, because this is really for myself.
You, like most young adults, lack patience. You want it all now. You want the glory. You want the girl. You want the amazing life.
But it takes work. It’s a grind. It takes effort e-v-e-r-y s-i-ng-l-e d-a-y.
When I was 10, my mom told me that if I started anything right now and kept working at it until I went to college, I’d be really, really good at it. I ignored that advice and just kept watching TV.
And that’s the thing with most people. Most people have ambitions. Most people want to be good at a lot of things. But they don’t know what sacrifices they have to make to get there. Everything has it’s price. All we ever see is the end result. We never know what goes on behind the doors.
People see the glory and not the grind.
Which is why I love this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=daC2EPUh22w
Life isn’t a sprint. It’s a marathon. Those who do great things have stamina. Not speed.
