I’ve found a really simple “hack” you can use whenever you feel like shit.
Not really sure why this works, but it works like magic.
It’ll magically uplift your mood. You’ll smile more. And it’ll give you that euphoric buzz.
But first, I’m gonna vulnerably explain where I’m coming from, for personal therapeutic purposes. So bare with me for a couple sentences.
This last week, mentally, I’ve been feeling like SHIT. I didn’t do good work at my job. I wasn’t interested in women *GASP*. My body language repelled people like a fat kid with B.O. I snoozed every morning( I usually don’t). I was literally a couple hours from quitting my job.
But then, that’s when I realized…….. it was all about ME ME ME.
My needs. My problems. My job. My situation. My life.
ME ME ME ME.
Let’s flip this around.
It’s not about me. It’s about service. It’s about being useful to others.
So try this whenever you feel like shit, depressed, sad or whatever.
Help someone and expect NOTHING in return.
You could buy a book for a friend.
Give a stranger a compliment.
Buy a homeless person a piece of food.
Open the door for the people behind you.
Introduce two people who might click with each other.
Help an old person with their groceries.
Obviously, action is always good. But it’s MORE about the mindset:
“How can I be useful to others?”
Give it a try. It’ll make someone else’s day………. plus, you’ll feel better. It’s win-win.
